The 7th annual Symposium of the Transport Research Association for NSW (TRANSW) was held on Thursday 7 November the University of Sydney. Over 190 attendees from government, industry, and academia enjoyed 36 presentations by transport research students from the University of Sydney, UNSW, UTS, and the University of Wollongong.

 

An inspiring poster session with 20 contributors and two motivating keynote sessions also made up the program. A wide range of timely transport topics were discussed, spanning areas from safety to sustainability. Thanks to Transport Lab and its incredible team who hosted this outstanding event. The baton has now been handed over to UNSW, who will organise the 8th edition in 2025. We hope to see you all again next year.

The Day

Research students, academics and industry practitioners discuss transport research and its’ impacts on industry. Both presentation and poster sessions are available.

 

Call for Abstracts

This is an opportunity for transport research students and post-doctoral researchers to showcase their research. 

​

The format of the 2024 TRANSW Symposium will include Presentation Sessions of research students (MPhil and PhD) and postdoctoral researchers. Themed talks will be organised into parallel sessions throughout the day. Each presentation will be followed by an interactive question and answer session allowing the audience to ask questions, provide feedback and have a discussion. These presentations will be facilitated by Chairs from industry and research institutions.

Additionally, research students and postdoctoral researchers will be able to demonstrate their work through the poster display with time dedicated to Poster Sessions to allow for discussion with attendees of the Symposium.

The day also includes an opening session and a closing session, both with Keynote presentations. A detailed programme with presentations speakers will be published closer to the Symposium date.

High-quality presentations and posters related to zero-emission transport will be invited to submit a full paper to a special issue in the Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment.

Awards

The best presentations in each stream will be awarded ‘2024 TRANSW Best Presentation in Stream’ determined by a panel of academics and industry representatives. ‘2024 TRANSW Best Poster Presentation’ will also be awarded by people’s choice.
